Snow Depths
Information on the snow depths monitored by the Chilean Water Authority (DGA) are reported here.
In menu>analysis you can select the variable: Percentage, Measured or Anomaly. In menu>region you can select a region.
Measured: This map shows the snow depth level, measured in cm. The snow depth are available on an irregular monthly basis.
Percentage: This map shows the snow depth as a percentage of the depth normally expected in this month. The percentage indicates conditions of deficit with respect to the normal situation.
Standardized Anomaly: This map shows the snow depth as standardized anomaly. The anomaly is the difference between the depth measured and the snow depth normally expected in this month. The anomaly indicates conditions of deficit or surplus of level compared to a normal situation (Table 1).

The snow depths are those reported by the Chilean Water Authority (DGA).
How is the percentage calculated?
The percentage is calculated by dividing the monthly snow depth by the average depth (calculated using historical data of the specific snow measurements and taking the month in consideration) and multiplying it with 100.
How is the anomaly calculated?
The anomaly is the monthly snow depth measured minus the average depth (calculated using historical data of the specific snow measurements and taking the month in consideration) devided by the standard deviation.
